Cyclone is seeking a commercially astute and visionary leader to join our Christchurch head office and Executive Leadership Team as Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Reporting directly to the CEO, this pivotal role will drive our financial strategy to support sustainable growth and innovation in a dynamic, tech-driven sales organisation.

You will provide strategic financial leadership across Cyclone Computer Company and Cyclone Finance (a wholly owned subsidiary), driving operational efficiency, and strengthening governance and stakeholder confidence. Supported by an engaged Senior Leadership Team and Board, you’ll have the opportunity to make a real impact.

You will:

  • Act as a trusted adviser to the CEO and Board, ensuring visibility of financial and commercial risks, opportunities, and performance drivers.
  • Assume operational leadership of Cyclone Finance.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and reporting with clarity and insight, delivering timely, accurate information to empower confident decision-making.
  • Align financial strategy to enhance our growth and long-term business aspirations.
  • Oversee cash flow, liquidity, and capital deployment to strengthen the business and deliver exceptional returns.
  • Engage with external and internal stakeholders and partners, ensuring transparency and trust in financial performance and strategic direction.
  • Communicate financial performance, strategy, and risk to all stakeholders.
  • Review and sign off on new or amended contractual obligations and partnerships.
  • Champion digital transformation, leveraging automation and analytics to drive efficiency and improve business outcomes.
  • Build and inspire high-performing finance, administration, and supply chain teams, fostering a culture of accountability and collaboration.
  • Lead ESG strategy, reporting, and sustainability initiatives, integrating these into our business strategy and reporting.

What We’re Looking For

We are seeking an authentic, motivated, and inspiring leader with a proven track record of strategic and pragmatic financial leadership. You will be a strong collaborator who thrives in a fast-paced environment, with the courage to set ambitious goals and the capability to deliver results.

You will bring:

  • Proven experience as a CFO or Financial Controller (5+ years) in a commercial environment.
  • Professional qualifications such as CA, CPA, or similar.
  • A passion for and deep understanding of technology, or experience working for an MSP or technology-led organisation.
  • Strong commercial acumen and the ability to influence strategic decisions.
  • A hands-on leadership style with exceptional communication and negotiation skills.
  • Experience delivering long-term financial strategies aligned with business goals.
  • A problem-solving mindset and confidence in making decisions.
